American Civil Liberties

Today Google/Blogger restored the blog they shutdown: http://recraig2pubs.blogspot.com/. Give them credit for restoring it and so quickly, BUT you can only give them credit if they had not been the ones who shut it down in the first place.

The fact is that they DID shut the blog down and without notice or discussion. It is completely contrary to the nature of the blogging community. The blog host should relate to bloggers in the same spirit of community conversation as the service itself creates and recommends. In many circles this would be considered gross hypocrisy.

Perhaps your mind wants to justify it by claiming that it is Google's business and that they can do whatever they please with it. However, that logic does not yield either consistency or truth. Google cannot allow anyone of any age to access pornographic materials on their website. This is one extreme example of what Google CANNOT do with their business. Google cannot use their business to propagate or support any acts of hostility against the U.S. government and still operate their business within the U.S. There are many responsibilities that Google must fulfill as a business. They MUST pay taxes to the U.S. government. They must abide by many corporate and civil laws.

There are rules regarding thier services and conduct with regard to their relationship to the public. Blogspot is a public service and therefore a public space. We have the freedom of speech and the freedom to assemble, even for protest. If Blogger targets me or my blogs due to the presence of THIS blog, which you are reading, they have deprived me of my civil rights and are subject to a federal law suit. Believe me! I WILL take it to the ACLU if it happens.

As I have posted in my profile on other services, I am a true red-blooded American. The European side of my family goes back to 1701 in America and the Native American side almost as far back as the earliest arrivals to North America. In spite of many travesties committed by the U.S. government officials in history, I believe that when our officials were acting according to the principles of America as a protection against despotism, they were standing on righteous principles. I also believe that every citizen and every legal entity (corporation) has both a moral responsibility and legal obligation to follow these same principles especially but not exclusively when conducting public business or business in public spaces. Google has gone against these principles.

In my estimation when a person or corporation breaks the principles that safeguard us against despotism they have committed treason and they should be severely reprimanded first as a warning. If they do not desist their despotic practices they should be penalized severely, all property and capital seized, the Executive officers sentenced to 30 years in prison and the corporation liquidated. The proceeds should be dispersed equally among private organizations that protect our civil liberties.

The executive officers should be stripped of their opportunity to operate either as owner, executive officer, manager, board member or any other leadership faculty of any sort of commercial business. The ban should be for life and nationwide.

Today one of my blogs was denied access. Apparently, Blogger thinks it might be a spam blog. There was no notification or question posed to me, nor any test to verify that I am not a spammer. There was no email notifying me of the problem, though I have 5 other blogs on Blogger, 4 of them for over a year.

The one marked was the newest one and the only one I added an Amazon store to. This site is an index of all of my writings I have submitted and have been published on the Internet. It is a collection of abstracts on those articles, ending with a "more..." link to the original article. Now tell me how THAT constitutes spamming! They are MY articles and it is MY index. A person has a right to index his own work does he not? A person has a right to promote the reading of his own work, does he not?

Blogger is managing a public space. They have many moral obligations that are far heavier than the clients. They have abused this responsibility. Please read my blog about it, that also collects complaints of the same problem from thousands of other Bloggers on Google's service. You will be shocked!

Email admin useless in this case - 3 years of abuse!

Normally I would advocate everyone flooding the admin's email with request for them to stop these horrendous practices against their clients. However, the nature of the posts themselves prove that the admin cares little about their clients. It is not likely there will be much response beyond a knee-jerk reaction either to justify their practices and dismiss a community voice or to appease us only for the moment so they can continue with their abuses.

Notice how long some have waited for their daily blogs to be reinstated. Some have waited two months (60 days!) Imagine their readership abandoning their blog just because there are no posts for 60 days, not to mention the scandal of appearing as a spamming site. The reputations that Google Blogger is ruining of just normal, everyday people! It is sick! It is evil that this has been going on for about 3 years now! Will they never stop!

Abuses on Blogspot BY Blogspot

I am championing a new cause. I am a long-time blogger, a contributor of internet articles at various services, have hosted my own domain for a computer company I owned and operated for more than a decade, have promoted the Internet as a new social aspect of our culture for at least 15 years and am now disgusted by the practices of Google's Blogspot service providers.

So I am delineating these abuses as presented by bloggers themselves right here. Please post any comments you have that contribute to my archiving of these abuses. I will be backing up this blog every day in case they shut it down.

I will provide links within and without Blogspot that aid in this campaign. What am I advocating? Just this:

All Bloggers have a moral obligation to abandon Blogspot for their mismanagement of a public space.

I am moving all of my blogs to other services. The only blog that will remain is this one, for obvious reasons. Cheers to all!
